Payment gateway configured before development starts

Shopify Payments declines transactions for ammunition, reloading components, and firearms accessories. The build requires a third-party gateway such as Authorize.Net, PayKings, or a specialized high-risk processor that has a firearms-friendly merchant agreement. Shero assesses payment gateway eligibility and configures the gateway integration before any storefront development begins, because payment failure at launch is not recoverable quickly.

Hazmat shipping logic for smokeless powder and primers

Smokeless powder, black powder, and primers are classified as hazardous materials by the DOT and require ORM-D or Limited Quantity shipping labels, carrier-specific restrictions, and quantity limits per shipment. Shero builds checkout logic that enforces correct hazmat shipping methods, prevents invalid carrier selection for hazmat products, and calculates hazmat fees accurately. These are decisions made at build time, not patched after the first mis-shipped order.

State-level geo-restrictions for regulated products

Several product categories in the firearms vertical are legal federally but restricted or prohibited in specific states: certain ammunition types, magazine capacities, suppressors, and body armor are regulated by jurisdiction. Shero builds geo-restriction logic that blocks restricted products at checkout for customers in regulated states, displays correct compliance messaging, and prevents orders that would put the merchant in violation of state law.
