Shopify SAP Integration Services

SAP integrations fail more often than NetSuite integrations, consistently for the same reason: the connector was mapped against a standard SAP data model rather than the client's variant configuration and pricing conditions. Shero maps your actual SAP setup before any integration is scoped.

What a Shopify SAP integration actually involves

As part of Shero's broader Shopify ERP integration practice, SAP projects always require a dedicated data mapping session before any connector configuration begins. Shero builds SAP integrations using custom middleware, iPaaS platforms including Boomi and Celigo, and direct BAPI and RFC connections for legacy SAP ECC environments. The approach is selected based on your SAP version, hosting model (on-premise or cloud), and the data flows required.

• SAP Business One + Shopify
• SAP S/4HANA + Shopify
• SAP ECC + Shopify (legacy)
• Order sync: Shopify to SAP for fulfillment
• Inventory and pricing sync from SAP to Shopify
• Customer and account master data sync

Why SAP manufacturers choose Shero for their Shopify integration

SAP integrations require a different level of pre-build mapping than other ERPs. Pricing conditions, plant structures, and material classifications in SAP do not have direct equivalents in Shopify. The mapping decisions made before development begins determine whether the integration works correctly in production.

01

SAP data model mapped before connector selection

Shero runs a dedicated SAP data mapping session before recommending a build approach. We document your pricing condition types, plant and storage location structure, material master classifications, company code assignments, and order processing workflow. This session is what allows us to scope accurately and select the correct technical approach for your specific SAP configuration.

02

Business One, S/4HANA, and ECC each handled differently

SAP Business One uses a different API and data model than S/4HANA, which in turn is different from legacy ECC. Shero has built integrations across all three. Business One typically uses the SAP B1 Service Layer. S/4HANA uses OData APIs. ECC requires BAPI or RFC connections via custom middleware. Knowing which approach applies to your environment is what prevents scope surprises.

03

Pricing conditions synced correctly to Shopify B2B catalogs

SAP pricing is built on condition records that define customer-specific, material-specific, and volume-based prices. These do not map directly to Shopify's price list model. Shero builds the translation logic that converts SAP condition records into Shopify Plus B2B catalog prices, ensuring the pricing your dealers and wholesale buyers see in Shopify matches what SAP holds as the source of truth.

04

Manufacturing-specific data handled for production environments

Manufacturers running SAP alongside Shopify have requirements that standard ERP connectors rarely cover: bill of materials references in product data, production order status affecting available-to-promise inventory, and configure-to-order product variants that need to translate into Shopify's product model. Tormach's CNC machinery catalog is an example of this type of requirement handled in production.

05

Ongoing maintenance across SAP update cycles

SAP S/4HANA releases quarterly updates. On-premise SAP ECC environments have patching schedules that can affect BAPI behavior. Shero provides ongoing SAP integration maintenance so that when SAP updates or your configuration changes, the Shopify connection is updated by the team that built it. For manufacturers comparing SAP with other ERP options, see our Shopify ERP integration guide.

06

Documentation and handoff for your SAP team

SAP environments are managed by internal BASIS teams or SAP partners who need to understand how Shopify touches the system. Shero delivers documented integrations with field mapping tables, BAPI and OData endpoint references, error handling runbooks, and data flow diagrams formatted for SAP administrators. For teams already running Shopify NetSuite alongside SAP, see our Shopify NetSuite integration page.

How Shero builds Shopify SAP integrations

01

Discovery: SAP Config and Data Mapping

We document your SAP version, hosting model, pricing condition types, plant and company code structure, material classifications, and order workflow before selecting a build approach. This session determines whether the integration uses Service Layer, OData, BAPI, or custom middleware.

02

Architecture: Approach and Field Mapping

We design the integration layer, select the technical approach for your SAP version, and produce a complete field mapping document covering every data entity, transformation rule, sync direction, and conflict resolution logic. For B2B pricing, we design the condition-to-catalog translation before any development begins.

03

Build: Integration Development

We build the integration against your production SAP configuration, not a clean demo system. Order sync, inventory sync, pricing sync, and fulfillment status flows are built and tested individually before full end-to-end testing. Error logging, retry logic, and alerting are included in every flow.

04

UAT: SAP-Specific Validation

We run live test orders and inventory updates through the full cycle, testing edge cases specific to your SAP configuration: pricing condition resolution for specific customer tiers, plant-level inventory allocation, and order processing through SAP's workflow engine.

05

Launch: Go-Live and Monitoring

Go-live includes active monitoring for the first sync cycles, a runbook for your SAP BASIS team and ops team covering how to identify and resolve data errors, and a defined support arrangement for SAP update cycles and Shopify API changes.

06

Ongoing: Maintenance and Support

SAP S/4HANA updates quarterly. On-premise SAP patches affect BAPI behavior. Shopify deprecates API versions on a schedule. Shero provides ongoing maintenance so the connection stays accurate as both systems evolve — handled by the team that built the integration and knows how it is configured.
