Shopify B2B Pricing and Catalogs

66% of B2B buyers will abandon a purchase if their preferred payment terms are not available. As of April 2026, basic catalog based pricing is on all Shopify plans. The question is whether the way you have set it up actually works at checkout, or whether buyers are seeing the wrong price, no discount, or a payment option that does not match their account.

66%

B2B buyers abandon without their preferred payment terms

Two thirds of B2B buyers will not complete a purchase if the vendor does not support their expected payment terms. Net terms are a requirement for retaining B2B accounts, not a nice to have feature.

3

Maximum B2B catalogs on non Plus Shopify plans

Since April 2026, all paid Shopify plans include B2B catalogs. Non Plus plans allow up to 3 active catalogs assigned through Shopify Markets. For businesses with more than 3 distinct pricing tiers, or where per company pricing is needed, Shopify Plus or a third party app is required.

Unlimited

Catalogs on Shopify Plus with per company assignment

Shopify Plus removes the 3 catalog ceiling and allows catalogs to be assigned directly to individual companies and locations. A national distributor, a regional dealer, and a direct account can each have entirely different pricing for the same product, managed from one admin.

90%+

Reduction in manual order price adjustments with structured price lists

Operators who implement structured B2B price lists through Shopify Plus report reducing manual order price corrections by over 90% compared to managing wholesale pricing through draft orders and discount codes.

Working with Shero Commerce for the past three years has been a game changer for our B2B ecommerce business. Their expertise in website support and ecommerce strategy has significantly improved our online presence and optimized our B2B operations.

The three ways B2B pricing on Shopify is commonly set up wrong

The first failure mode is using customer tags and discount codes to simulate tiered pricing. This approach does not display price breaks on the product page, breaks under volume, and cannot sync to an ERP. The second is using third party apps for functionality that is now native on all plans. The third is configuring payment terms incorrectly so buyers reach a checkout that does not match their account agreement.

B2B pricing architecture decisions that determine whether it works at scale

Pricing architecture fails at predictable points: catalog setups that do not match how customers are actually segmented, payment terms configured as an afterthought, and ERP price changes that never make it into the store. These are architecture decisions, not configuration errors.

01

Customer group mapping before catalog configuration

Before a single price list is set up, the customer groups are mapped: national distributors, regional dealers, direct accounts, or corporate buyers. JustRite, STX, and CCL all have different structures. The catalog architecture is designed to match each one, not adapted from a template.

02

Volume pricing tiers that update in cart as quantity changes

Volume pricing on Shopify Plus uses quantity breakpoints within catalog price lists. Buyers see all tiers on the product page and the cart price updates as quantity changes. No app is needed and there is no checkout surprise. On non Plus plans, the same behavior requires a third party app for storefront visitors outside company account logins.

03

Net terms assigned to companies, not entered at checkout

Net 15 through Net 90 are assigned to a company account or location. When a buyer from that company reaches checkout, their terms appear automatically. There is no need for buyers to select terms manually or for staff to adjust orders after the fact. See our Shopify Plus B2B page for full detail.

04

ERP price sync so catalog prices stay current

For businesses where pricing is managed in an ERP, Shopify catalog price lists sync through the Admin API. Changes in the ERP flow to the store without manual updates in Shopify. Shopify Winter 2026 edition added prebuilt bidirectional sync through Patchworks and Fulfil that covers pricing alongside orders, products, and company data.

05

Purchase order capture without checkout customization

Shopify Plus supports purchase order reference fields at checkout natively for B2B company accounts. For more complex approval workflows where orders require manager sign off before processing, Shopify Flow handles that logic. Neither requires custom theme development.

06

Plan based decision: Plus vs non Plus for your tier count

The right plan depends on the number of distinct pricing tiers. Up to 3 tiers work on all plans via Markets based catalogs. More than 3, or any requirement for per company pricing rather than per market pricing, requires Shopify Plus. For non Plus stores with complex pricing, third party apps like Wholesale Pricing Discount B2B fill that gap. See our Shopify ERP integration page for full detail.

How B2B pricing builds are structured

01

Customer Group and Pricing Requirements

All customer groups, pricing tiers, volume breakpoints, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and ERP data structures are documented before any catalog configuration begins.

02

Plan Selection and Architecture Design

Catalog hierarchy and price list structure are designed to match the customer group map. Plan selection (Plus vs non Plus) is confirmed based on the number of distinct tiers required.

03

Catalog and Pricing Configuration

Company accounts, catalogs, price lists, volume tiers, quantity rules, and payment terms are all configured in Shopify. ERP sync is built if pricing is managed in an external system.

04

Checkout and Payment Terms Testing

Every account type is tested through the full checkout flow: catalog visibility, pricing accuracy at each quantity tier, net terms display, PO field capture, and payment processing.

05

Launch and Ongoing Pricing Management

Monitored launch with account level testing. Ongoing support for pricing changes, new account group setup, and catalog updates as the business evolves.
