CRO Audit for eCommerce Stores

You pay for traffic whether it converts or not. Our CRO audit analyzes your entire funnel. from analytics to user recordings, to show exactly where you are losing money and which fixes will yield the highest return. Instead of a stack of observations, you get a prioritized action plan.

Findings ordered by expected impact against effort

An audit that returns forty observations and no order is a document nobody acts on. Every finding comes with a view on what it is likely worth and what it takes to build, so the list can be worked from the top down by whoever ends up doing it.

Data + behavior

Numbers and recordings read together

GA4 tells you where people leave and session recordings tell you why. Reading one without the other produces either a list of drop-off percentages with no cause or a set of anecdotes with no weight behind them.

+28%

Mobile conversion rate at Swag Golf

Swag Golf's mobile conversion rate rose 28% after we rebuilt the storefront, with load speed tripling in the same work. Mobile is where the gap between desktop and phone conversion usually turns out to be fixable rather than inevitable.

Years auditing eCommerce stores

We have been auditing and building eCommerce stores since 2010, across regulated categories, B2B catalogs and high-SKU stores. Knowing which problems are common and which are unusual is what keeps an audit from being a best-practice checklist with your logo on it.

We partnered with Shero for the SWAG site development. The dev was highly nuanced, specialized and complex. The Shero team went above and beyond. They were collaborative, organized and professional, consistently setting expectations clearly and usually exceeding them.

What the audit covers

Analytics and behavior data, navigation, homepage, collection pages, product pages, cart and checkout, the mobile experience, merchandising, messaging and trust signals. We also check whether the analytics themselves can be trusted, because an audit built on broken tracking inherits the breakage.

  • Analytics and tracking accuracy check
  • Funnel and drop-off analysis
  • Collection and product page review
  • Cart and checkout path
  • Mobile experience
  • Merchandising, messaging and trust signals

Why brands run the audit with us

A best-practice checklist applied to any store returns roughly the same findings every time, which is why those audits feel generic and get shelved. Ours starts from your numbers and your recordings, so the list is specific to where your traffic is actually leaving.

01

We check the analytics before trusting them

A store reporting conversion data that is 20 or 30% under-counted produces an audit built on the wrong baseline. Checking the tracking is the first thing we do, and on a meaningful share of audits the first finding is that the numbers themselves need fixing.

02

Ranked by what it is worth against what it costs

Every finding gets an expected impact and an effort estimate, which is what turns the document into a plan. The cheap high-impact items go to the top, and a few expensive ones usually end up correctly at the bottom.

03

Recordings and heatmaps, not just drop-off rates

Knowing 60% of people abandon the cart is the question, not the answer. Watching them do it, seeing where the cursor hesitates and which field gets abandoned, is what turns a percentage into something you can actually change.

04

Mobile reviewed as its own experience

Mobile usually converts at a fraction of desktop and the gap is nearly always wider than it needs to be. We audit the phone experience separately, on real devices, because the problems there are rarely visible in a desktop browser at a narrow width.

05

The audit becomes a testing roadmap if you want one

Findings turn into hypotheses, and hypotheses turn into tests worth running in order. Brands that want the testing run afterwards move into an ongoing conversion rate program, and brands that want to take the list in house can do that instead.

06

It makes every acquisition channel cheaper at once

A conversion rate improvement applies to paid traffic, organic traffic and email traffic on the same day, which is why this work tends to pay back faster than adding budget to any one of them.

How a CRO audit runs

01

Access and tracking check

We get into your analytics and behavior tools and check the data is trustworthy before we start reading it.

02

Funnel and behavior analysis

Where people leave, on which device, from which traffic source, and what the recordings show them doing before they go.

03

Full path review

Homepage, collection, product, cart and checkout walked on desktop and on real phones, against the paths the data says people take.

04

Findings ranked

Each finding gets an expected impact and an effort estimate, then the list is ordered so it can be worked top down.

05

Walkthrough and next steps

We present the findings and agree what happens next, whether that is us running the fixes and tests or your team taking the list.

Working with Shero Commerce on our migration from WordPress to Shopify was honestly such a pleasant experience. We’d been on WordPress for five years with tons of content and very specific styling, and moving all of it into one cohesive Shopify site was no small feat — this was a genuinely complex, highly technical migration. But they pulled it off on deadline with zero errors and zero issues. Their team showed up with everything we needed: a project manager, multiple developers, marketing leads, email specialists, and CRO experts, all coordinated through dedicated meetings and a real task management system. They also designed several high impact conversion pages so our digital presence didn’t just function better — it looked beautiful too. Since migrating, we’ve seen an increase in revenue thanks to having one simplified, cohesive platform. I’m so grateful for how seamlessly they executed this, and I’d recommend Shero Commerce to anyone facing a migration like ours.“
