What a Shopify PIM integration covers

A PIM integration makes the PIM the single source of truth for product titles, descriptions, attributes, images, and digital assets, and publishes changes to Shopify automatically. Connector configuration before data model mapping is the most common failure

PIM attributes do not map one-to-one to Shopify metafields. A Shopify metafield has a namespace, a key, and a type. PIM attribute groups have their own structure. Without mapping these explicitly in discovery, attributes land in wrong fields, get truncated, or fail type validation on import.

Shopify metafields are designed in discovery, not during connector setup

Shero designs the Shopify metafield schema to receive PIM attribute data before the connector is touched. Namespace, key, and type are specified per attribute so data flows into the correct field types from the first sync without post-sync cleanup.

Channel-specific content variants need explicit routing rules

PIM platforms store multiple content variants per product, one per channel. Without routing rules, retailer-optimized content or draft content publishes to the Shopify storefront incorrectly. Shero maps the Shopify channel rules in the PIM before the connector is activated.

Images and digital assets stored in the PIM or a connected DAM publish to Shopify with correct ordering, naming, and alt text when the asset sync is built alongside the attribute sync. PIM platforms manage multi-locale product content natively. For Shopify Plus stores using Shopify Markets, Shero builds the locale-specific content sync so each market receives the correct translated content from the PIM automatically without manual translation entry in Shopify.

Bulk catalog updates need delta sync, not full re-syncs

Full catalog re-syncs on every product update create unnecessary load and risk overwriting manual changes. Shero builds delta sync so only changed records propagate to Shopify, and only the changed fields update. This also makes troubleshooting faster when a specific product record fails validation. For brands where the PIM connects alongside an ERP, Shero builds the ERP integration in the same engagement so pricing and inventory sync from the ERP while product content syncs from the PIM without conflict.
