SMS Marketing for Shopify Stores

A text gets read in minutes and an email might get read tomorrow, which is exactly why SMS gets misused. Sending the same promotion down both channels buys you two chances to be ignored and a round of unsubscribes on the one you cannot easily rebuild. We run SMS in Klaviyo alongside your email program, split by what each channel is actually good at, and we handle the consent rules that make the difference between a list you own and a legal problem.

Klaviyo

Where we build SMS and email together

Running SMS in the same platform as email means one audience, one set of segments and one view of what a customer has already been sent. We are a Klaviyo partner and build both channels on the same subscriber data rather than syncing two lists and hoping they match.

Consent

Checked before the first send

SMS is governed by consent rules that email is not, and the penalties land on the brand rather than the agency. We review how subscribers were collected, what they agreed to, and whether your opt-in language holds up, before anything goes out.

10-20%

Incremental revenue SMS adds for brands with email working

For stores where email is already producing, SMS typically adds another 10 to 20% on top without taking it out of email. Where email is weak, SMS does not rescue it, which is why we usually fix the email program first.

98%

Client Retention

98% of our clients stay with us after their first project closes. Retention programs get better with every quarter of subscriber data behind them, which is an argument for not changing hands often.

Working with Shero Commerce for the past three years has been a game changer for our B2B ecommerce business. Their expertise in website support and ecommerce strategy has significantly improved our online presence.

What we run under SMS

Flow architecture, campaign calendars, segmentation, copywriting, setup, testing and reporting, with the send schedule coordinated against email so the same customer is not hit twice in an afternoon. Compliance review runs before the first message, not after a complaint.

  • Welcome and opt-in flows
  • Abandoned cart and browse abandonment
  • Post-purchase and replenishment
  • Back in stock and launch campaigns
  • Win-back and lapsed segments
  • Consent and compliance review

Why Shopify brands run SMS with us

The quickest way to kill an SMS list is to treat it as a second email list. The channel is more intrusive, more expensive per message and far less forgiving of a send nobody wanted, so the rules for what earns a text have to be set before the first campaign.

01

Email and SMS split by what each is good at

SMS earns its place on things that decay: a cart about to expire, a restock, a shipping update, a sale ending tonight. Email takes the storytelling and the long product content. We agree that split first so neither channel is just repeating the other.

02

Flows before campaigns

Campaign sends produce revenue the week they go out. Flows produce it every week after that, triggered by what the customer did rather than what was on the calendar. We build the flow library first and let the campaigns sit on top of it.

03

Consent and compliance reviewed before the first send

How you collected the number, what the subscriber agreed to, and what your opt-in language actually says all determine whether the list is usable. We check it at the start, because the fix after a complaint is more expensive than the review.

04

Segmented hard, because the cost per message is real

Email to the whole list costs almost nothing. SMS to the whole list costs real money and buys unsubscribes from people who were never going to act. Segments get built tight, by purchase history and engagement, before any send.

05

Measured on revenue and list health together

A campaign can post a good revenue number and cost you 4% of the list in the same send, which only shows up as a problem two quarters later. Monthly reporting gives attributed revenue next to unsubscribe rate so the trade is visible while it is still correctable.

06

Send timing set against the rest of the program

A text that lands an hour after the email it duplicates is the single most common reason subscribers leave. We hold one calendar for both channels, which only works when the same people manage both, as our marketing automation work does.

SMS works until the first send nobody asked for. Then it takes months to rebuild the list.

How an SMS engagement runs

01

List, consent and flow audit

We review how the list was built, what consent exists, what flows are live and where email and SMS are already overlapping.

02

Channel split and calendar

We agree what earns a text and what stays in email, then build one calendar covering both so sends do not collide.

03

Flow build

Welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase and win-back get built and tested before any campaign sends start.

04

Campaign program

Launches, restocks and promotions go out against the shared calendar, segmented rather than blasted.

05

Monthly reporting

Attributed revenue, flow performance, list growth and unsubscribe rate, with the next month's calendar attached.

Invisible Bead Extensions®

Working with Shero Commerce on our migration from WordPress to Shopify was honestly such a pleasant experience. We’d been on WordPress for five years with tons of content and very specific styling, and moving all of it into one cohesive Shopify site was no small feat — this was a genuinely complex, highly technical migration. But they pulled it off on deadline with zero errors and zero issues. Their team showed up with everything we needed: a project manager, multiple developers, marketing leads, email specialists, and CRO experts, all coordinated through dedicated meetings and a real task management system. They also designed several high impact conversion pages so our digital presence didn’t just function better — it looked beautiful too. Since migrating, we’ve seen an increase in revenue thanks to having one simplified, cohesive platform. I’m so grateful for how seamlessly they executed this, and I’d recommend Shero Commerce to anyone facing a migration like ours.“
